PAULA MANNING, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Paula is Artistic Director and founder of M-SET Arts Limited. She is responsible for delivering projects to schools and theatres across London.
Having also been Expressive Arts Director for Phoenix School in Tower Hamlets for seven years and previously Associate Director at Half Moon Young People's Theatre, she has extensive experience in using experiential drama and the expressive arts as a tool for helping both SEND and mainstream schools meet curriculum goals and broader learning objectives.
As a trained counsellor she has lectured on a wide range of counselling and experiential courses at the University of London and with a background of counselling in education industry and commerce, she has developed particular experience in developing programmes and projects fr behaviour management and personal development.
Her work also includes consultancy on SEN practice for organisations including The Young Vic Theatre, The Barbican, The Tate Modern, The BBC, Pop Up Theatre and The National Autistic Society. She has extensive experience in teacher training in mainstream and SEND schools, and for Local Education Authorities and training organisations including the London East Teacher Training Association.
She was commissioned to carry out research for A New Direction (a bridge organisation for The Arts Council) into Arts and Cultural Provision for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and regularly speaks at conferences to promote equal opportunities in the arts.

JOHNNY TOMLINSON, MUSIC TUTOR AND COMPOSER

Johnny is a pianist, composer and musical director who creates and facilitates music and sound on M-SET projects. He trained in Jazz Studies at Leeds College of Music and now works across a variety of musical genres as keyboardist and band leader, and performs worldwide.
He composes music for large and small scale ensembles; was Musical Director and organist at St Anselm's Church, London; and is in demand as an accompanist working as a pianist for dance companies including English National Ballet, Half Moon, RiskyThings and Az2b Theatre Company, and has experience as a facilitator in a wide range of mainstream, SEN, SILC and PRU educational settings.

BETH ROBINSON, DESIGN AND PRODUCTION TUTOR

Beth is an artist and set and costume designer. As a tutor for M-SET she creates and delivers design projects for young people to enhance their learning on projects. Having originally trained in technical theatre she also works with young people using stage management, lighting and film to develop communication and interaction skills.
TATE HINGORANI-SHORT, SOUND AND LIGHTING TECH

Tate is a trained music technician who operates sound and set design across our participatory theatre pieces, providing a sensory experience and developing the interactive abilities of young people.
NIALL ROWEY, LIGHTING, MUSIC AND FILM TUTOR

Niall works across Open Minds with students on multi-media projects based around mental health, working as a music and film tutor. As a trained lighting and sound technician, he works as tech and stage management throughout our participatory theatre pieces.
RICK LEIGH, MUSIC TUTOR

As a music tutor for M-SET, Rick delivers music technology and composition activities to reinforce the themes of sessions and to encourage creativity and team work.
